On Thursday, June 23, NBA teams will seek to better their respective rosters in the 2016 NBA Draft. Luckily, you don’t need a cable TV subscription to catch all the action online. Online streaming services, like Sling TV, now make it possible for you to watch a legal 2016 NBA Draft live stream, complete with all the ESPN coverage.

If you’ve recently cut cable and you’re wondering how you can watch the NBA Draft online, you’ve come to the right place! Below, see your best options for catching the NBA Draft live streaming.

How to Watch the NBA Draft Online Free with Sling TV

Sling TV

ESPN has full broadcast rights to the NBA Draft. Up until recently, that meant you had to have a cable subscription to watch all the coverage. However, that’s no longer the case thanks to Sling TV. By using Sling TV, which offers a free 7-day trial, you can legally watch the NBA Draft live stream free without cable.

What is Sling TV? Sling TV is an online streaming service created by Dish Network that gives you full access to ESPN and ESPN2. It also gives you access to even more ESPN content, including live and on demand games and ESPN original series on ESPN3, through the WatchESPN app, which you can log into using your Sling credentials. The service, which is only $20 per month with no contract, also gives you about 20 other popular channels including TNT, AMC, and HGTV, among others.

Sling TV lets you live stream popular channels on just about every device, including streaming players (Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, Xbox, etc.), Android and iOS phones and tablets, and your computer. So you’ll be able to live stream the NBA Draft anywhere you go in the US. Check out our Sling TV review for more info.

Because Sling TV is offering a free 7-day trial, you can actually watch the NBA Draft live stream for free. It’s a great way to give the streaming service a test drive and see if it’s something you’d like to keep.

PlayStation Vue Also Provides NBA Draft Streaming

Playstation Vue

While Sling TV is the more established and cheaper streaming service, PlayStation Vue also offers a viable way to watch the 2016 NBA Draft online. Vue works a lot like Sling TV – providing live access to many popular cable TV channels, including ESPN. The basic package from Vue offers 50+ channels, and costs $29.99-$39.99 a month, depending on your market.

Vue is a newer service and has only recently become available nationwide, and so far it’s a little more limited as far as device availability goes. Right now, you can only watch on your PS3/PS4, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Chromecast and iOS devices. But the important thing to point out is that Vue has mobile geolocation streaming restrictions that block you from using the service outside of your home. So if you’re looking to stream the NBA Draft on the go, it may not be your best option. Read our PlayStation Vue review for more info.

Right now, PlayStation Vue also offers a free 7 day trial, which is useful in trying out the service before you commit.

Can I Watch the NBA Draft Online with NBA League Pass?

If you’re an NBA League Pass member, you might think you can use the service to watch an NBA draft live stream. Unfortunately, this is not the case. While NBA League Pass gives access to some preseason and regular season games, the Draft will not be included in this (similar to the NBA Finals).
