NOW TV Review: An In Depth Look at the UK Streaming Service

Now TV logoLiving in the UK definitely has its advantages, but you can be fairly hard pressed to find a good, legal service where you can watch your favorite television online. Well now there’s an online television service that has enough benefits and features — it’s even a great replacement for Netflix UK. It’s called NOW TV.

This is a review of the up and coming cable TV streaming service NOW TV… what it is and what the features are… basically everything you need to know in order to get started watching your favorite shows online. Learn more in the NOW TV review below.

What is NOW TV?

NOW TV is a television streaming service based in the UK. In a nutshell, they have live stream cable channels available to watch whenever you feel like it, all online. The service offers three packages aimed at different types of viewers. You have the sports pass for sports-lovers and the entertainment pass for those looking to keep up with their favorite TV shows. Additionally, the movie pass gives you access to a Netflix-esque library of over 1,000 films available to watch anytime you want, no commercials. So if there’s nothing on TV, you have plenty films to choose, from the latest space hit Interstellar, to the Penguins of Madagascar children’s animated movie, there’s hour upon hour of regularly updated content right at your disposal. Enjoy a 14-day free trial for the Move pass here to try it out for yourself.

What are the NOW TV features?

So now that we know what it is, what sets NOW TV apart from the other legal online television streaming services?

  • Catch Up Section that allows you to watch episodes of currently airing shows you may have missed live, anytime you want.
  • Box Set section of on demand television content featuring previous full seasons. Content changes regularly, but you are given a 30 day warning whenever a show is about to leave.
  • Single day passes are available for major sporting events starting at £6.99.
  • They have their own dedicated box for £15, which also comes with further discounts for their services (more on that below).
  • Broad device support (which may not seem like a feature, but there’s nothing more aggravating than paying for a service, only to find out you can only use it on ‘X’  device, when you use device ‘Y’ as well).
  • They’re constantly expanding, adding more features and content regularly with plans of further growth.

What channels can you get with NOW TV?

The channel package you choose will determine which channels you’re able to watch with NOW TV. Each package contains channels associated to a particular genre, e.g. the Sports packages has all of the sporting channels.

Here’s a list of exactly which channels you’ll be able to watch with each NOW TV package:

Which devices can you watch NOW TV on?

now tv boxLike we said before, NOW TV has a broad range of devices they support, even offering a device of their own for pretty cheap if you don’t have/use any of the others.

You can watch from any of the channels or movies using an iOS or Android phone, a Mac or Windows computer, an XBox 360 or One, both PS3 and PS4 systems, LG Smart TV’s, Roku devices, Apple TV, EETV, Youview and Chromecast.

So pretty much all the major devices are supported by NOW TV. And as mentioned above, you can also get a discount when you go with the NOW TV Box.

How much does NOW TV cost?

One of the best things about NOW TV is the pricing structure, because they have more options available for sports fans and entertainment fans alike. Each of the three total packages comes with different pricing structures so you can decide which option(s) are right for you.

The Entertainment Pass comes at £6.99 a month, which grants you access to their live television services as well as the Catch Up and Box Sets sections at your disposal. If you find more entertainment from films than from television, for £9.99 a month you get access to the Sky Movies Pass and everything that has to offer.

If you’re a sporting fan, you’ll find more options available to your disposal here. What sets NOW TV apart from the rest is that they’ll allow you to only purchase a single day’s pass for £6.99. You’ll never have to miss an important event again, and it’s a great way to host a major event. They also offer a week pass for £10.99 and a monthly pass for £31.99.

Where is NOW TV available?

Unfortunately, NOW TV is currently only available in the UK (we’re jealous here in the States!).

Are there any special deals or discounts?

Short answer is, yes. One great deal you could take advantage of right NOW is their 14-day free trial to their Entertainment Pass as well as the Sky Movies Pass – sorry sports fans.

NOW TV also offers a few other different discounts and deals you can take advantage of to help cut costs. Remember the NOW TV Box we talked about earlier? Using that, you can get up to 31% off depending on which package you choose.
