Sling TV Launches Sling International Service, Transitions Away from DishWorld Brand

Early this morning, Sling TV announced that DishWorld has now become Sling International. The newly rebranded service offers the same nearly 200 channels in 18 languages starting at $15 per month to U.S. subscribers as its DishWorld predecessor, making it the largest multicultural streaming service in the country.

Renaming the popular DishWorld service to Sling International makes sense, and it’s a move we all should have seen coming. As the Sling TV brand continues to grow, rolling DishWorld into the Sling family makes it easier for streamers to enjoy their favorite domestic and international programs in one place. It also makes the Sling brand more attractive to cord cutters eager for more content choices.

“Sling TV grew from the foundation established by DishWorld, enabling us to test, grow and improve our OTT capabilities through a service that streams tens of millions of hours of content every month,” said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. “Incorporating DishWorld into the Sling TV portfolio makes it even easier for viewers to get the best of both domestic programming and the shows and sports they love from overseas.”

Sling International has nearly 200 overseas channels, giving viewers access to everything from international sports (soccer, cricket, and more) to Bollywood movies and so much more. In a Twitter exchange with a current DishWorld customer, the company confirmed that Sling International would continue to offer its same $10 a month international sports package (featuring beIN Sports, Willow Cricket, One World Sports, Trace Sport Stars and more) but also mentioned that it would soon be offering new packages in Bengali, Kannada, and Marathi, as well as new packages in existing languages.

For current customers, the only thing that’s set to change at the moment is that they will need to upgrade to the new Sling International app the next time they login to the service. This will connect viewers with the Sling TV user interface, giving them the ability to watch Sling International and domestic Sling TV content within the same app.

To celebrate the launch of the new Sling International brand, the company is offering a free one month trial to new customers. In addition, the Sling TV will continue to offer its free 7 day trial for its domestic service.
