Watch ACC Basketball Online: 2015-2016 Live Stream Guide

watch acc football online

With the college basketball season underway, excitement is in the air as fans begin to make plans for watching their favorite teams, including North Carolina, Duke, Syracuse, and other great ACC teams. Cable TV is one of the easier ways to watch college basketball, but it’s also very expensive, and requires long-term commitments. Nowadays, many people are moving away from cable companies to find cheaper options.

For fans of ACC conference schools, most games will air on the ESPN family of networks. Until very recently, cable was the only way to watch ESPN – but no longer! Today, it’s possible to watch ACC basketball online, using a variety of different services. In the guide below, we’ll lay out all your options.

Watch ACC Basketball Live Streams with Sling TV

what is sling tv

The best service to use is Sling TV, an affordable and accessible online streaming service.

Sling TV is the only service that lets you watch ESPN online, without cable. This makes it the most viable option for streaming ACC basketball online. ESPN owns the broadcasting rights for most ACC men’s basketball games for the next several seasons. The vast majority of games from teams in the ACC conference will air on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, or ABC – all of which are offered by Sling TV.

Here’s everything you’ll enjoy with a Sling TV subscription:

  • Live access to all content from ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, TruTV, AMC, A&E, and more
  • Access to ESPN3 and ABC via the WatchESPN App
  • ACC basketball live streams on ESPN, ESPN 2, and ESPN3 all season long
  • Watch March Madness live stream on TNT, TBS, and TruTV during March Madness
  • Tons of TV shows, movies, etc. on TV’s best channels (20+ channels total)
  • Option to add the Sports Extra package for $5 per month – adds channels like SEC Network, ESPNU, ESPN Buzzer Beater, and more

Sling TV is priced at just $20 a month, which is an absolute steal when compared to cable TV prices. You can use it on streaming devices, computers, and mobile devices, from anywhere with an internet connection – no cable required! Check out our Sling TV review for more details

If you plan to use Sling TV for the entire 2015-2016 college basketball season, you may as well take advantage of a promotion they are running right now. Sign up today and pre-pay for 3 months ($60 total) and you’ll get a free Roku 2 or 50% off a Roku 3 – which is a value of $50+, meaning the first 3 months essentially pay for themselves!

In essence, Sling TV gives you access to most ACC basketball games, throughout the season. You’ll also get access to the WatchESPN App for even more sports content. Plus, you’ll enjoy live content from many of TV’s best networks, without the need for an expensive cable subscription. All that, for $20 per month!

Watch Select ACC Basketball Games with CBS College Sports Live

CBS College Sports Live

Depending on which teams you follow, CBS College Sports Live could be another viable way to watch ACC basketball online. CBS has agreements with specific schools to host live sports content online. In the ACC conference, those schools include Virginia, Notre Dame, Louisville, Miami, NC State, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Boston College, and Georgia Tech.

If you’re a fan of one of the schools listed above, CBS College Sports Live is a good choice. Basically, this service is available on computers, smartphones and tablets, and lets you watch live sports content from anywhere with an internet connection. For the schools that CBS has partnered with, there is a ton of live sports available, including basketball, football, and much more. There’s also a library of on-demand clips. Check out our full review for all the details.

College Sports Live will run you $9.95 per month, on a no-contract basis. That’s a pretty good deal considering the amount of content it gives you.

Enjoy a Free ACC Basketball Live Stream using the WatchESPN App

watchESPN app

ESPN offers an app called WatchESPN, for both mobile devices, Xbox gaming consoles, and streaming devices. With WatchESPN, you can access select live sports content, including live streaming of ESPN3, ABC, and more. This includes access to select ACC basketball games.

Some cable providers and ISPs give their customers access to WatchESPN for free. You can check here to see if your ISP is on the list of participating providers. You won’t, however, be able to access content airing on ESPN, ESPN2, or other ESPN networks without a pay TV provider, like Sling TV. Free access is limited to ESPN3 content.

Watch Featured ACC Basketball Games for Free Using an Antenna

Most games will be hosted on ESPN networks, but some ACC games will be hosted by CBS (especially during March Madness). CBS is not available with Sling TV, but luckily, it’s available for free over-the-air.

CBS broadcasts over the air, for free. All you need to enjoy CBS-hosted games is an HD antenna. The Mohu Leaf 50 HD antenna is our top recommendation, mainly because it’s affordable, easy to use and install, and it works great.

Using your Mohu, simply tune into CBS at the scheduled time of the game, and you’re good to go. You could also use a DVR (see our DVR guide) to record the game so that you can watch it later, and fast forward through the commercials.

If you own a more advanced DVR, like the Tablo HD DVR that I use myself, you can take the convenience one step further. The Tablo gives you the ability to stream live TV (or existing recordings) to a connected device, so you can actually watch live TV on your smartphone, by streaming it from your Tablo.
