Watch Big 10 Basketball Online: 2016-2017 Big Ten Basketball Live Stream Guide

Watch Big 10 Basketball Online

With the new college basketball season here at last, fans are excited to cheer their team on through the season. For Big Ten fans, the excitement is thick in the air. Up until recently, cable TV was really the only way to watch Big Ten basketball online, but thankfully that is no longer the case. With the price of cable skyrocketing, fans are happy to have more choices when it comes to following their favorite teams.

It is now possible to watch Big 10 basketball online, without needing a cable TV subscription. Because of broadcasting agreements, the online options for each conference vary. For fans of Big 10 schools (including Maryland, Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State, and more), we’ve put together this guide. Below, you’ll learn all about the legal methods and services you can use to watch Big 10 basketball live stream online.

Watch Big 10 Basketball Live Stream with Sling TV

Sling TVOne of the best ways to watch Big 10 basketball online is to use Sling TV.

ESPN has an agreement with the Big 10 conference. For the next few seasons, ESPN owns the rights to broadcast most Big 10 games. Until recently, there was no way to watch ESPN without cable, but thankfully, you can now watch ESPN online, using a new streaming service known as Sling TV.

Sling TV is an online streaming service from Dish Network. You do not need cable to enjoy content from this service – only a compatible device and an internet connection. Here’s what you’ll get with Sling TV:

  • Live access to many popular TV channels, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3TNT, TBS, TruTV, AMC, A&E, Disney Channel, and more. 25+ channels are included with the basic package.
  • Use Sling TV to watch Big 10 basketball live streams of every game hosted on ESPN, ESPN 2, and ESPN3 (via WatchESPN). The majority of games will be hosted on these channels
  • Watch March Madness online, via channels like TNT, TBS, and TruTV.
  • Add the Sports Extra package for $5 per month – adding channels like ESPNU, SEC Network, and more
  • Enjoy tons of live TV shows, movies, music, and news from cable’s best channels – all without the high price of cable TV

With Sling TV (review), you’ll enjoy all that, all for just $20 per month. Sling TV is really all you need to watch Big 10 basketball online, and it’s my #1 recommendation for most people. It does not include Big 10 Network, unfortunately, but besides that it’s a great way to stream Big 10 basketball games online.

You can use Sling TV from anywhere with an internet connection, on many different devices. You can watch on your mobile devices, streaming players, and computers. If you’re watching at home, the best way to enjoy Sling TV is on your TV via a streaming player, such as a Roku or Chromecast. If you don’t have one, Sling TV will give you one! Get a FREE Roku streaming device, or a great deal on an Apple TVwhen you prepay for 3 months!

To sum up, for $20 per month, you can watch every Big 10 basketball live stream that is hosted on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, TNT, TBS, or TNT – which includes the majority of games for the whole season. Plus, you’ll be able to watch live TV shows, movies and more from many of the best channels on TV. For even more live sports content, you can get the Sports Extra package for $5 more per month.

Watch Big Ten Basketball Live Stream with PlayStation Vue

vuePlayStation Vue is another great service that you can use to watch Big Ten basketball online. Offered by Sony, this service gives subscribers access to many popular TV networks, without the expense of a cable subscription. Vue starts at $30 a month, and is non-contract.

PlayStation Vue plans include ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, TNT, TBS, and more. Big Ten Network is also included, adding even more value for fans of Big Ten conference teams. So, Vue will provide access to most Big Ten basketball game live streams throughout the entire season.

Channel-wise, Vue actually offers more than Sling TV because BTN is included with Vue. However, we still consider Sling to be a better option, because it’s cheaper, usable on more devices, usable for mobile streaming (Vue restricts mobile viewing) and overall just more flexible. With that said, both services offer great value for NCAA fans.

Watch Big 10 Basketball Online for Free Using the WatchESPN App

watchESPN app

ESPN offers a useful app for mobile devices, streaming players, and Xbox gaming consoles known as WatchESPN. With this app, you can stream Big 10 basketball game online, plus tons of other live sports content, including live access to ESPN3 content.

Some ISPs provide their customers with free access to this app, while others don’t. You can check here to see if your cable or internet provider gives you access to WatchESPN. If they don’t, you can also use your Sling TV login to access the app.

For watching Big 10 basketball online, the WatchESPN app is a decent option. If you’re getting free access through your ISP, you’ll only be able to see the games that are on ESPN3. If you’re using a pay TV login, like Sling TV, you’ll get ESPN3, plus whichever ESPN channels you have in your TV package. It’s limited, but it’s a free way to stream Big Ten basketball games from time to time.
