The Michigan State Spartans and Iowa Hawkeyes will travel to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana to play for the chance to be named the Big Ten Conference Champion. The game starts at 7:15 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 5.

The game will be broadcast on FOX’s main channel in primetime this week. It will likely be one of the best matchups of the weekend. Previously, it may have been difficult to watch the game on FOX without a cable subscription. Thankfully, there are now multiple legal options to watch the Big Ten Championship live this weekend without the expensive cable package.

Michigan State Spartans vs Iowa Hawkeyes Preview

The Michigan State Spartans have had an impressive season up to this point. They have defeated three opponents ranked inside the top-15. This includes their victory over the previously undefeated Ohio State two weekends ago. The only blemish on their record is a tough one-point loss to Nebraska, but their ability to win against some of the top teams have earned them a ranking of 5th in the AP Poll heading into Saturday. A victory over a strong Hawkeyes team could likely be the catalyst needed to propel the Spartans into the top four and a spot in the college football playoff.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have been dominant the entire season and have yet to lose a game. Sitting at 12-0 heading into the Big Ten Championship the Hawkeyes are looking to continue towards their march to perfection for the season. Their schedule has not been as difficult as Michigan State’s, but two big victories over Northwestern and Wisconsin stand out. If they can defeat a Spartans team that has shown it can rise to the occasion against the best they will likely lock in a spot in the college football playoff.

Use a Digital Antenna To Watch The Big Ten Championship

Since the Big Ten Championship will be broadcast on FOX, an antenna will be a great resource to watch the game. FOX transmits its broadcast via an over-the-air network, which can be accessed and viewed with the help of an antenna. The antenna hooks right up to your TV and lets you watch the broadcasts of several over-the-air networks. This will likely be one of the best ways to watch the Big Ten Championship live.

Some of the channels that can be accessed via an antenna are FOX, ABC, NBC, and CBS. Meaning the antenna can also let you watch a ton of other programming beyond the Big Ten Championship like other sporting events or your favorite TV show. One of the best aspects is the fact it does connect right to your TV with ease, so you can enjoy the live TV from your living room.

If you are in the market for an antenna, my top recommended option is the Mohu Leaf 50. It has an impressive 50-mile radius and its sleek design means it won’t look terrible in your living room.

In addition to an antenna, you can include an over-the-air DVR in this setup. The over-the-air DVR will let you record, rewind, fast-forward, and pause for all of the live TV broadcasts you receive from your antenna, but there’s more. A recommended option is the Tablo, which adds the ability to connect to the internet allowing you to watch TV on your phone, tablet, or computer wherever you are in the world. That means you could watch the Big Ten Championship online anywhere you go. Check out our full DVR comparison guide here.

Watch the Big Ten Championship Live Stream by Subscribing to PlayStation Vue

playstation vue

Sony has recently launched a subscription streaming service to compete in the growing market for alternatives to cable called PlayStation Vue. If you have a PS3, PS4, iPad, or Amazon streaming device, you can live stream all of the popular channels included in its packages. Some of its channels are TBS, FOX, FS1, FS2, FX, NBC, and CBS.

PlayStation Vue will be another great option to watch the Big Ten Championship online live this Saturday, especially if you had one of the supported devices. It is definitely more expensive than some other options, with a starting price of $49.99, but there’s no contract and you get a lot for your money. Sony is also still in the process of fully rolling out the offering and at the moment it is only available in select cities – Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Miami, Dallas, and San Francisco. Regardless, if you live in one of these areas, Vue could be a good way to watch a legal Big Ten Championship live stream.
