Hell on Wheels is back on AMC with its fifth and final season, and as the great American Western rides off into the sunset, it’s sure to give viewers one heck of a goodbye.  Hell on Wheels season 5 will contain 14 episodes, the first 7 of which were already aired last year. The second half of the season, containing 7 episodes, will start on June 11, 2016 to wrap things up.  If you’re interested in finding out where Cullen Bohannon, Doc Durant, and the others end up when all’s said and done, you’ll be happy to know that you don’t need cable to watch the last chapter live on AMC.  Fortunately, there are plenty of options for cord cutters who want to watch Hell on Wheels online.

Check out the complete guide to legally streaming Hell on Wheels without cable below.

Sling TV Lets You Watch Hell On Wheels Live Stream and On-Demand

If you’re looking for the easiest way to watch Hell on Wheels online, Sling TV might be your best bet. Sling TV is a streaming service (think Netflix or Amazon Prime Instant Video, but with live content) from Dish Network that makes it possible to watch AMC shows live as they air and later on demand. Using your internet connection, you watch Hell on Wheels season 5 on your phone, tablet, computer, or TV and never miss a second.

Sling TV actually has an entire basic TV package that offers more than 20 of the most popular pay TV networks at a fraction of the price of cable. For a flat monthly rate of just $20, you can not only watch AMC, but also other great channels like ESPN, ESPN2, TBS, TNT, HGTV, Food Network, CNN, and more. Here’s the kicker — there’s no contract. You pay month-to-month for as long as you want to keep the service, and you can cancel at any time.

Want to try Sling TV for yourself? Right now, you can sign up for a free 7-day trial and check out everything Sling TV has to offer. Of course, each half of Hell on Wheels season 5 is 7 episodes long, lasting about two months per half-season. So, the 7-day trial won’t let you watch Hell on Wheels streaming throughout the entire season.

That’s why I recommend taking advantage of one of the great limited-time offers Sling TV is currently running. When you prepay for three months of Sling TV service, you can get a free Roku 2 streaming player. Both of these are excellent streaming players that will let you watch Hell on Wheels online (and over 2,000 other streaming apps, like Netflix, Hulu, and more) right on your TV. By taking advantage of one of these great deals, Sling TV virtually pays for itself for those three months.

PlayStation Vue Offers Another Way to Watch Hell on Wheels Streaming

Playstation Vue

PlayStation Vue is a new streaming service from Sony that’s somewhat similar to Sling TV. Like Sling, Vue offers a selection of live channels delivered over the internet. Their basic package includes AMC among other channels, meaning you can watch Hell on Wheels online this way.

Vue works on PlayStation gaming consoles, iOS devices, Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV. So, it’s a bit more limited in terms of device compatibility, but there’s still a decent amount of devices (and we expect Sony to add more). Read more in our PS Vue review.

Packages range from $30 a month for 55+ channels to $45 a month for 100+ channels. So clearly, there’s a lot of stuff to watch with Vue! And while it is a bit more expensive than Sling TV, it’s still a good option to enjoy Hell on Wheels live stream, plus enjoy a ton of other great shows.

PlayStation Vue also offers a free 7-day trial!

Are There Other Ways to Watch Hell On Wheels Online?

Beyond Sling TV and PlayStation Vue, there are a couple of other options for watching Hell on Wheels season 5 without cable. However, neither of the following services will let you see Hell on Wheels streaming live, only on demand starting the day after it airs.

  • Amazon Prime Instant Video–With Amazon Prime Instant Video, you can watch Hell on Wheels the day after it airs. Of course, this means you have to wait an extra day, but more importantly, you’ll have to pay $1.99 per episode or buy a season pass for $34.99. If you’re someone who follows more than a couple of shows, this can start to get pretty expensive.
  • iTunes–Like Amazon Instant Video, iTunes also makes episodes of Hell on Wheels season 5 available the day after they air. Each episode costs $2.99 to download, and the season pass is $34.99.

Is Hell on Wheels on Netflix?

Netflix Logo

It sure is! You can watch the first 5 seasons of Hell on Wheels on Netflix streaming. The new season, however, likely won’t be added for several months after it airs. Netflix will cost you less than ten bucks a month for a huge library of on-demand content! Read our Netflix review for more info.

Is Hell on Wheels on Hulu?

No, unfortunately Hell on Wheels is not currently available on Hulu. If the show is added in the future, we will keep this guide updated.

Finally, AMC will post the season premiere episode free on its website as a way to entice fans into subscribing to the pay TV network. Unfortunately, this is the only episode you’ll be able to get free from without a cable TV login. The episodes set to air this month are really the second half of the final season, so if you fell behind watching last year you’ll want to catch up before watching the new episodes!

Don’t miss an episode of Hell on Wheels as the series comes to its dramatic end. With all of the great options above, there’s no excuse not to watch Hell on Wheels online! To learn how to enjoy other TV shows without cable, check out our TV show streaming guide.
