It is a great time to be a wrestling fan. We have not one but two great WWE shows on television to watch every week. The first is Monday Night Raw. The other is WWE SmackDown on Tuesday Nights. While SmackDown spent a few years on Fridays as well, the USA Network is now giving us the show live on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET for the last two years, meaning we get another day to talk about the great fights with our friends.
And what fights they are! We get highlights of every battle that happened during the last few pay-per-view events as well as a few good new ones each week. This is a great way to catch up on your favorite wrestlers without having to fork over for PPV or cable. That’s right — we can watch SmackDown online free of cable contracts and headaches!
How to Watch SmackDown Online
- Choose a streaming service that carries the USA Network (Sling TV is the most affordable option).
- Sign up for a free 7-day trial to test out the service.
- Install the streaming service’s app on your device.
- Open the app and select the USA channel to watch Smackdown online live Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET
Sling TV Lets You Watch Smackdown Online Live
Smackdown airs weekly on the USA Network, Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. While USA is traitionally a cable channel, there are now options to stream the channel live without cable TV. Sling TV offers the cheapest way to get USA live streaming and watch Smackdown online.
What is Sling TV? It’s a live streaming service that gives subscribers access to a number of popular pay TV channels at a way lower cost than cable and with no contract. That means you can cancel at any time. You can watch Sling TV on your connected TV devices (e.g. Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, Xbox, etc.), smartphone or tablet, or computer. USA is offered in the Sling Blue package along with about 30 other channels for just $25 a month.
Hulu has SmackDown Full Episodes
While live is the only way to get the full experience, you might not have a spare three hours to sit through the whole event. Fortunately, Hulu offers condensed versions of SmackDown full episodes you can watch the next day after they air, and you don’t miss anything important.
As one of the most popular streaming sites online, Hulu (review) has a huge library of past and current TV shows and SmackDown streaming episodes you can watch whenever you want to watch them. You can pay $7.99 to remove some of the commercials that play during the episodes or $11.99 to go completely ad-free. You can also use their weeklong free trial to watch SmackDown online free and see if the service will serve all your needs.
The PlayStation Vue SmackDown Live Stream
Condensed episodes are great, but nothing beats a good SmackDown live stream. That is why every wrestling fan needs to use the PlayStation Vue Smackdown streaming service if they plan on watching the full action as it happens. PlayStation Vue (review) lets us watch live streams of our favorite cable networks without a cable subscription. This means we can use Vue to watch the USA Network anytime we need to see a SmackDown live stream. You just have to install the $29.99 per month PlayStation Vue app on your PlayStation 3 or 4, iPad, Amazon Fire TV, or Chromecast device. For this price, you get all kinds of great cable content for just a slice of the cost.
PlayStation Vue also lets us watch our favorite broadcast network shows, but only those of us living in Chicago, New York, Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Philadelphia will be able to see them live. The rest of us have to see them on a next-day, on-demand delay, which is still not bad at all.
However, this is not the only restriction that comes with PlayStation Vue. Your service and account are tied to your home, so you can only use the features while at home. Even the iOS version of the app offers limited access when you use it anywhere else besides your home location. Still, Vue is the only place where you can watch SmackDown online live as it airs on the USA Network.
WWE’s Standalone SmackDown Streaming Site
If none of the other options work for you, you can use the WWE Network streaming site to watch Smackdown online. The service costs $9.99 a month, and you get all the monthly PPVs and thousands of hours of on-demand content, but there is a 30-day wait before you can watch the latest fights, so it’s not the best option if you like being up-to-date on the latest fights and chiming in on conversations.
At least WWE offers such a service, but you will be much better off using Hulu or PlayStation Vue to watch Smackdown online. Then, you can use our watch WWE online guide to find other ways you can watch wrestling online without cable.
