Watch The Oscars Live Stream with Sling TV (in Select Areas)

Sling TV

Sling TV is one of our favorite cable alternatives. For just $20 a month with no contract, Sling TV gives subscribers access to 20+ top TV channels, which can be watched live. Everything is available live at the same time as it goes on air, plus there’s a rotating selection of on-demand content available.

Sling TV channels include ESPN, TNT, AMC, TBS, Food Network, Disney Channel, and much more. The basic package does not include ABC, but you can add it as part of the Broadcast Extra package for an additional $5 a month. Note: ABC live stream through Sling TV is currently only available in the following markets: Chicago, Fresno-Visalia, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, and San Francisco.

So, if you live in one of those areas listed above, you can pay $25 a month ($20 for the basic package + $5 for the Broadcast Extra bonus channels) to get access to ABC, plus 25+ other great channels. There’s no contract, so you don’t need to commit to more than a month. If you don’t live in one of those select markets, you can still subscribe to Sling TV, but you won’t be able to get ABC.

If you are signing up for Sling, consider this limited time offer: pre-pay for 3 months ($60) and get a FREE Roku 2 streaming player (a $70 value!) The Roku 2 will let you stream Sling TV, Netflix, and many other streaming services directly to your big-screen TV! You can also use Sling on your computer, smart TV or mobile device.

Not sure yet? Try a FREE 7-day trial of Sling TV to get a feel for the service yourself!

The official Oscars website will offer the Oscars live stream on the official website. It will be free, but unfortunately, it requires a cable TV authentication/log-in, and it’s only available in select cities. Which means, you’ll need a cable subscription to go this route. Still, it’s useful if you already have cable but just won’t be at home during the ceremony. You can use your cable login to access the Academy Awards live stream from anywhere with an Internet connection.

Watch The Academy Awards Live Stream for Free with an Antenna

antenna DVR combo

Using a digital antenna, you can actually watch the Oscars live stream for free! How? Well, the Oscars will be hosted by ABC, and ABC happens to be an over-the-air channel. That means, all you need is a digital antenna to enjoy the show live – for free!

A high-quality antenna, like the Mohu Leaf 50, will pick up OTA channels like ABC, Fox, NBC, etc, giving you access to a free Academy Awards live stream – and much more! You don’t need cable or even internet, just a good antenna hooked up to your TV and you’ll be good to go.

For a bit more convenience, consider using a DVR to record the Oscars so you can watch later. We always recommend that people use the Tablo HD DVR, because it’s one of the best on the market. With the Tablo, you can record, pause, and rewind live TV. Once you have something recorded, you can watch it from your mobile device by syncing your DVR with your phone or tablet! How’s that for convenience?
