As expected, the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament featured some incredibly exciting games. From crazy upsets to last second victories the tournament so far has not let any fans down. Now, it’s on to the Sweet 16 and all types of fans will want to make sure they can catch as many games as possible live, even if they don’t have cable.

Thankfully, there are tons of options to watch the Sweet 16 online and we have provided a guide below that walks you through all of your choices. There’s also a full Sweet 16 TV schedule at the end of this post. Read on to figure out what works best for you this weekend.

Watch the Sweet 16 Online with Sling TV

Sling TV

Sling TV is our most recommended option to watch the Sweet 16 online. It is a subscription streaming service that lets you watch over 20 popular cable channels live for only $20 per month. The streams are compatible with most major devices and can be watched on your TV with Roku, Amazon Fire TV, or Chromecast.

Channels in the Sling TV (review) starting package include TBS, truTV (available only during March Madness), TNT, ESPN, ESPN2, and several others. The first three channels will air 46 of the 67 NCAA Tournament games and on Sling TV this will include a solid portion of the Sweet 16 live stream. And, the Final Four and National Championship will all be broadcast on these channels.

Sling TV can even be used to watch the Sweet 16 online free if you start the free 7-day trial at the right time. Check out our March Madness guide to learn even more.

Another great deal by Sling TV is the limited-time offers of either a free Roku 2 or half-off a Roku 3 if you subscribe for three months of Sling TV. The Roku 2 is a steal, since it retails at $70. So, for $60 dollars over three months you get the Roku 2 (basically $10 off) and Sling TV as the added bonus.

Watch March Madness Games on CBS with an Antenna

antenna DVR combo

All of the other March Madness games will be broadcast on CBS. Thankfully, these games have multiple options to follow live and you can even watch the Sweet 16 online free.

You can watch CBS’s broadcast with an antenna by receiving the over-the-air broadcast. Channels like CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX can all be accessed like this and watched directly on your TV. We highly recommend the Mohu Leaf 50 if you are in the market for an antenna.

With the antenna, you can pair an over-the-air DVR to really improve your setup. The Tablo has the normal features of a DVR (record, rewind, pause, etc..), plus you can stream your recordings or live TV directly on your computer, phone, or tablet. This means you can watch the Sweet 16 online if the game is on CBS with this setup.

Live Stream the Sweet 16 with the March Madness Live App

Another way to watch a Sweet 16 live stream is through the March Madness Live App. All NCAA Tournament games can be watched on the app, but without cable you can only watch the CBS games. There is no cost to watch the games, so it is a way to watch the Sweet 16 online free.

The additional games broadcast by TNT, truTV, and TBS are also available, but only if you have a cable subscription login to verify. You could always use a friend’s login and use the app to watch every single Sweet 16 game live on your phone or tablet. It’s definitely a great option for watching for free.

Watch The Sweet 16 Online on Turner Networks through PlayStation Vue

Playstation Vue

One last service, PlayStation Vue offered by Sony, provides a way to watch the Sweet 16 online. PlayStation Vue previously was only accessible in limited markets, but recently expanded to be offered nationwide throughout the U.S. The starting package in most markets is the Access Slim package which starts at $29.99 per month with over 55 popular cable channels.

It’s a great option for watching March Madness, especially since TNT, TBS, and truTV are included in the package. However, it is still slightly more expensive than Sling TV, so you basically have to weigh the cost benefit of getting the additional channels. It is also compatible on less devices, but still can be watched with PlayStation Consoles, iOS devices, Amazon Fire TV, and Chromecast.

Other channels in the package are ESPN, ESPN2, CNN, and AMC. Local channels like ABC, FOX, and NBC are available in on-demand versions. If you want to learn more about PlayStation Vue check out our review here. It is one last great option for you to watch a Sweet 16 live stream.
