Could the minds behind BBC America have completely understood the obsession they would unleash in American culture? In the 1980s, Doctor Who gained a loyal U.S. following when young fans were able to watch the reruns of the show on PBS, but BBC America changed that game in the early 2000s when they began to air the New Who for a whole new American audience. BBC has evolved over the years, along with our methods for watching it. Today, you can now watch BBC America online, without cable TV!
Over the years, BBC America has broadened beyond British programming, now the home to a number of syndicated series and even originals, such as the wildly successful Orphan Black which will be returning for its fifth and final season in 2017. But without cable, fans have had a hard time accessing this network. Here are some ways it is possible to gain access to the BBC America live stream today.

Is BBC America on Hulu?
Until very recently, many BBC America shows, including Doctor Who, were available on Hulu. A recent change in licensing has removed those shows, but there is some good news. There are a number of British television series, marketed as Hulu Exclusives, available on the streaming service. They include:
- Being Human
- The Fades
- Robin Hood
Hulu is a great service for a lot of reasons; you can read our review here. They offer on-demand content for countless current and past television series, including those on broadcast networks like ABC, NBC, and FOX. There are also a few Hulu originals that are worth watching. While you can’t exactly watch the BBC American live stream with Hulu, it may be worth it for a number of other reasons, including the $7.99 monthly price tag with limited commercials.
Where Else Can I Watch the BBC America Live Stream?
As with Hulu, several BBC and BBC America shows are no longer on Netflix, much to the dismay of fans. But, similarly, there are other British shows available that might make the streaming services worth it.
On the other hand, Amazon Prime became the new home for Doctor Who, and it is already a place where you can watch a number of other hit BBC America shows like Orphan Black. Typically, the newest season is only available for purchase, but it transitions to the free Prime streaming video service in time for the following season to start.
