CBS All Access and Fubo Get 24/7 News Network CBSN

CBS All Access review

CBS All Access is giving a boost to their channel lineup this week with the addition of 24/7 live news network CBSN. Many people were surprised that the network wasn’t included in All Access in the beginning, so this is a welcome change for subscribers.  This addition comes just as the service is set to debut their exclusive show Star Trek: Discovery on Sept. 24.

The announcement was made this week that every CBS All Access subscriber would be able to stream CBSN live on any computer. Streaming on mobile devices, streaming sticks and boxes, and smart TVs is expected to arrive in the fall.

It’s likely no coincidence that CBSN is being added to All Access the same week it’s coming to fuboTV’s streaming lineup too. After all, if you’re a CBS All Access subscriber, it would have to be frustrating to see another service entirely get a CBS network streaming before you do.

The inclusion of CBSN alone likely won’t bring in any new subscribers, but given the service’s rock bottom price ($6 a month with ads, $10 without), it’s always nice to see more channels available.

While this isn’t the first time news is available on All Access (it does have live local affiliates and shows like 60 Minutes and CBS Evening News), this is the first time CBSN is available through a video distribution service.

Jim Lanzone, CBS’ Chief Digital Officer, said that the network “adds tremendous value for subscribers, giving them the ability to tune into the latest breaking news and in-depth reporting” streaming live in one place.

The CBSN network first debuted back in 2014, and was actually quite successful, raising CBS News streams by 38%. The streaming service is now available online at CBS.com, through dedicated mobile apps, through Apple and Roku players, through Chromecast and Fire sticks, and through Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PlayStation.
