If you’re a Fubo subscriber, your channel lineup is a little larger this week. The company announced today that they have come to terms with Fusion network to include the channel in their base, $34.99 a month “Fubo Premier” plan.
While Fubo began with a focus on sports, they quickly expanded their lineup to include other genres – and Fusion is a part of that expansion. If you don’t know Fusion, it’s a network that’s geared mainly towards the millennial generation. It has pop culture and lifestyle shows, with some satire and news programming included for good measure.
Fusion is a part of Univision, but it’s targeted to English speakers (especially those with a Hispanic background though). The network’s official description reads, “From going deep on cultural obsessions to telling impactful stories that matter, FUSION TV provides a unique blend of enriching programming that reflects the shared passions and values of America’s diverse youth.” Fusion marks Univision’s first attempt at English language programming.
Several other UCI networks are a part of Fubo’s offerings, including UDN, Univision, Galavision, UniMas and El Rey Network.
Fubo’s channel lineup is now actually on par with other services in the marketplace like Sling and DIRECTV NOW. More than 60 channels are in their basic plan, and that includes networks like Travel, A&E, Fuse, FOX and FS1, Hallmark, HGTV, NatGeo, USA, and others.
Daniel Eilemberg, Fusion’s president and chief content officer, said the new deal had nothing but upside for his network. “Our audience craves enriching programming that shares their curiosity, sharpness, and passion and we’re excited to further satisfy that appetite by making FUSION TV available to fuboTV’s customers whenever and wherever they choose to watch.”
The news that they’re adding Fusion comes at a time when Fubo has been pretty busy. They recently signed deals with both CBS and Showtime for programming and added the Scripps family of networks (including HGTV, Food Network, and Travel Channel), and they just announced $55 in new funding.
Fubo has been on the rise as of late, and if they can continue their surge with the millennials they’re targeting, this could be a company to keep an eye on.
