HGTV, Travel Channel and Food Network Coming to FuboTV

If you needed a little more incentive to sign up for FuboTV, you got it this week, as the streaming TV company announced a deal with Scripps Networks Interactive.

Beginning on July 1, several Scripps networks will be added to Fubo’s basic package, including Food Network, HGTV, and the Travel Channel. It’s likely that the Cooking Channel and DIY will be added at a later date, but those could be part of a premium add-on. It’s also reasonably likely that other Scripps channels like Fine Living and Great American Country will be added in the future.

Speaking of the new deal, Scripps Interactives president of content distribution Henry Ahn said it was a great pairing. “Our world-class lifestyle content is a perfect complement to the fuboTV service,” he said, “and we are thrilled to partner with a sport-centric OTT service to bring the best in class in home, food and travel programming that will delight and entertain their users. ”

Not already familiar with Fubo? It’s a streaming television service that’s started with a focus on international soccer, but quickly became one of the most talked about names in a crowded market. The service is growing at a rapid pace, and with a monthly price tag of $35 for a robust channel lineup, it’s not really hard to see why.

Investors are taking note too. Just last week, fuboTV received right at $55 million in investments during a new funding round, led by the famous venture capital firm Northzone.

FuboTV co-founder and CEO David Gandler seemed pleased about the partnership as well. He noted that the company will still have a focus on sporting events, but that branching out is never a bad thing. “Partnering with Scripps Networks allows us to round out our basic bundle nicely,” he said, “complementing our core sports offering with some of the most popular programming on TV.”
