What About the Hulu Live Streaming Service?

Note: Hulu Live is available on select devices today with it’s limited beta launch. More details to come soon!

A lot of rumors have been circulating about a new Hulu live streaming TV service. Since some of the big cable companies own stake in Hulu, the service is set to have a pretty deep inventory of channels. That will take Hulu away from simply being a Netflix rival, and instead position it as a complete cable TV replacement, similar to Sling TV and PlayStation Vue.

Hulu’s live streaming TV service is not available yet. It’s currently in beta, with only a handful of users having access to the new service. You can also apply to join the beta here, although space is limited.

The full service is expected to be out in 2017, likely in Q1 or Q2. We don’t have an official date yet, but we’ll keep you posted when we learn more. Hulu has been announcing new deals with content partners, so we do know that they are actively working to get the service launched ASAP. Hulu recently announced a new partnership with CBS, which means they’ll offer CBS live streaming in the new service.

Hulu Live Channels List

While no one knows for sure exactly what channels Hulu will carry, recent deals have made it clear the service will likely carry the following:

  • TNT
  • TBS
  • CNN
  • Cartoon Network
  • Adult Swim
  • TruTV
  • Boomerang
  • Turner Classic Movies
  • AMC
  • ESPN/ESPN2
  • FOX Sports 1/Fox Sports 2
  • FOX
  • ABC
  • USA
  • Disney Channel
  • FX/FXX
  • CBS
  • National Geographic
  • Much more

Look for Hulu’s live TV streaming service to have around 80 channels, making it quite a bit more than a “skinny bundle.” Although, we fully expect them to launch several tiers with varying prices and channel packages. The Hulu Live service is an exciting development for cord-cutters – we’ll keep you posted.

Hulu Live TV Cost

How much will Hulu live streaming TV cost? At this point, rumors suggest it will start at around $35 per month. Of course, that could change as we get closer to launch. And with so many competitors now, Hulu will have to keep prices low to stay competitive.

Is There a Hulu Gift Card?

If you’re wondering about the possibility of getting a Hulu gift card for someone, you can find them in select retailers like Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and others. Hulu subscription gifts are also available through iTunes, Amazon, etc.

Hulu Review: Bottom Line

In the end, the existing Hulu is a great service, offering millions of hours of content to watch on-demand at your own convenience. It’s one of the only ways to watch recently aired TV shows without cable, and it also offers an impressive library of past shows. And with Hulu Live on the way, it’s getting even more attractive!

For now, Hulu is an absolute steal at $7.99/month (or $11.99/month with no commercials).
