Jennifer Lopez will headline DIRECTV NOW’s Super Saturday Night concert—a free-to-watch event that kicks off the Superbowl. The event will stream exclusively on AT&T’s AUDIENCE Network and DIRECTV NOW, according to Billboard.
For the past 13 years, AT&T has sponsored Super Saturday Night as an event to get people hyped for the upcoming Superbowl. It’s kind of like the Superbowl halftime show, except the whole evening is dedicated to performance.
AT&T’s Senior Vice President explained, “Our goal every year is to create an unforgettable experience. We want to bring fans closer to the best entertainers with premium content and performances. And this year, we’re taking it into living rooms and mobile devices across America for the first time ever. We’ll be livestreaming on both AT&T AUDIENCE Network and DIRECTV NOW.”
Offering this event exclusively through its streaming service, DIRECTV NOW makes an interesting play for audience attention. Streaming services are each battling for a place in the growing industry, so this move may help DIRECTV NOW set itself apart.
