fuboTV is a sports-centric streaming service, so this is a logical move as the company looks to position itself as the leading provider of regional sports coverage. The partnership will allow New Yorkers to enjoy exclusive live coverage of roughly 500 games from the Knicks, the Giants, the Bills, the Rangers, and six other local teams.
“New York fans are passionate about their favorite teams,” said Ben Grad, fuboTV’s head of North American content strategy and acquisition. “With MSG Networks on Fubo Premier, fans will be able to follow their teams—at home or on the go, across devices and screens.”
Of course, this does mean that the price of fuboTV’s Premier package will be going up for new customers with access to the new offering. The service will now feature the same introductory price of $19.99 per month for the first two months, but after that, the monthly rate will increase to $44.99 per month. For local sports fans in New York, however, that price will likely still get you the same or more coverage of local teams while still being cheaper than traditional cable.
As of yet, there is no word on when exactly MSG and MSG+ will be available on fuboTV, though Grad did hint that the changes would be coming “just in time for the new NBA and NHL seasons.” So if you’re an NBA or NHL fan, you may want to consider signing up sooner rather than later.
