Netflix Increases Rates by $1 a Month

Netflix increases ratesAs if this week couldn’t get any worse, Netflix just announced an increase to its prices, starting October 5th.

Netflix’s standard HD plan with two simultaneous streams will increase from $9.99 to $10.99 a month and the 4K streaming plan from $11.99 to $13.99 a month. Fortunately, the single SD stream will remain at $7.99 a month.

This price hike comes after learning that FOX is pulling most of its shows from the Netflix library this month, and Disney is creating its own streaming service in early 2019. Also, with the new prices, Hulu (and its vast on-demand content) costs only $1 more than Netflix.

Needless to say, Netflix has plenty of streaming competition and may lose subscribers because of the diminishing library and increased prices. Although, with great shows like Stranger Things, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and House of Cards, there’s still plenty to enjoy on Netflix. Users will just need to get used to paying a few more bucks a month for it.
