PBS Releases Cutest Streaming Stick Ever – And It Works Without Wi-Fi

There’s certainly no shortage of ways to stream content these days, but I can guarantee you won’t find a way as cute as a new device from PBS. This kid friendly streaming stick is shaped like a race car, and comes with a just-as-kid-friendly remote that has only 5 buttons.

But where this stick really stands out is the fact that it comes pre-loaded with over 100 hours of PBS Kids content (stored locally on the 16GB drive). That means your little ones can watch their shows on the go, at grandma’s house, or wherever they are – no Wi-Fi needed.

Also available offline is a series of simple games, including Rail Riders, Sound Box, and Road Trip Adventure, that can be played with the included control.

Of course, the stick does come with some Wi-Fi capability. Once it’s connected to the internet, it also provides access to the new PBS Kids live stream that’s available 24/7 and hundreds more hours of on-demand content (which will not require an account login or subscription).

For now, the stick is only available at Wal-Mart. It’s on the retail giant’s web site right now, and should be available in stores by the end of the month. It will come to other retailers later this year.

It has a price tag of $49.99, which might seem a little steep at first. You can indeed get streaming sticks that do more for a lower price, but what those sticks don’t provide is the security of knowing your child isn’t going to stumble across any inappropriate content (which if you’ve ever let a YouTube video play out, you know can happen quickly).

And no other streaming stick is going to be this adorable.
