Sling TV’s VP of Product Management, Jimshade Chaudhari, said on the subject, “With football season in full swing, we know our customers want to catch every play on the biggest screen possible. Integrating Sling TV into select Samsung TVs creates a seamless experience for millions of Samsung customers, so they can watch their favorite team without the hassle of installing additional equipment, additional remotes, or switching inputs.”
For cord-cutters, this is yet another indication that streaming services are rapidly beginning to take over the live TV space. As Salek Brodsky (Samsung’s President of Content and Services) said, “As viewers continue to embrace streaming live TV via apps, Sling TV is an obvious win for those who want to truly personalize their entertainment experience for the best value.”
With this addition, Sling TV furthers its lead over other streaming providers in terms of device compatibility. And while YouTube TV recently announced plans to release compatible apps on Samsung TVs, Sling TV is the first service to actually do it.
Initially, the Sling TV app will be available only on select Samsung Smart TVs from 2016, but it does expect to roll out to other models very soon. We’ll let you know as soon as other Samsung TV models receive Sling TV compatibility, so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates.
