The Olympics basketball tournament is an exciting way to see some of the best basketball talent in the world. The United States are always heavy favorites, but after several years of under performance there is increasingly more pressure on the team to perform well. Regardless of who comes out on top, Olympics B-Ball is always a joy to watch. If you’re wondering how to access Olympics Basketball live stream, we’ll explain how below.

Plus, the game of basketball is continuing its rapid expansion across the world. There were more international players chosen in the first round of the NBA Draft than ever before. Several of these players will certainly be looking to make a splash on the international scene as they represent their home countries at the Olympics.

During the Olympics, the basketball games will be aired on NBCSN, MSNBC, and USA with the finals being broadcast by NBC. All of these channels are traditional cable networks, but thankfully there are multiple ways to still watch Olympics basketball online or live streaming without cable. The below guide highlights your options and will be incredibly helpful in watching as much basketball during the Olympics as possible!

Watch Olympics Basketball Online Through Sling TV

Sling TV

Sling TV, a subscription streaming service offered by Dish Network, will be a top option to get an Olympics basketball live stream. All of the main channels that will be airing the Olympic basketball tournament are available on Sling TV. And, you can either watch Olympics basketball online on your computer, tablet, and phone or stream it right to your TV with a Roku, Apple TV, or Chromecast.

NBCSN and USA are included nationwide on Sling Blue, one of the basic packages on Sling TV, for only $25 per month. Certain locations will get access to NBC as well, but it is limited across the U.S. For $5 more you can add the World News Extra package and gain access to MSNBC as well. So, for only $30 per month you can watch nearly every Olympics basketball live stream of the 2016 Olympic Games. Plus, those packages will offer you 45+ other great channels to enjoy!

You can watch Olympics basketball online free with Sling TV with the 7-day free trial!

If you sign up for three months of Sling TV you can also get either a free Roku player or $60 off Apple TV. Both of these deals are awesome if you are thinking of using Sling TV for a little while and if you sign up in time they’d be prime ways to get an Olympics basketball stream on the big screen!

Use PlayStation Vue for a Olympics Basketball Live Stream

Playstation Vue

Sony’s PlayStation Vue is another way to watch an Olympics basketball stream on NBCSN, MSNBC, USA, or NBC. Like Sling TV, NBC is only available in certain locations, but unlike Sling TV MSNBC is available in the basic package. However, it is the same price overall, since PlayStation Vue costs $30 per month. Other channels on PlayStation Vue are ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, FX, FS1, Comedy Central, and nearly 50 more.

The big difference between the two services is PlayStation Vue has some limitations around streaming. The compatibility is solid with most major devices covered, but you are very restricted if you try to stream outside your home. This is a big problem with the Olympics, since so many events are happening throughout the day when you might not be at your house. You can learn more about PlayStation Vue in our review here.

Get an Antenna and OTA DVR to Watch an Olympics Basketball Stream

antenna DVR combo

The new antennas on the market are incredible and so much different from the old antennas that seemed to always have some sort of broken reception. Now, you can watch channels like NBC, ABC, FOX, and CBS in top quality, high-definition picture. There are a lot of antennas on the market, so check out our guide for picking the best one. This year, NBC will host several basketball games, so using an antenna will be one way to watch Olympics Basketball for free.

After you’ve chosen an antenna, you should try to improve the setup by getting an over-the-air DVR. They offer all the normal features of a DVR (record, rewind, pause, etc…), but also provide a live stream of whatever the antenna is receiving. This is how you can watch Olympics basketball live stream with the antenna. Take a look at our comparison guide we put together if you need help deciding on which DVR to choose!

You Can Still Watch Olympics Basketball Online Outside the U.S.

PlayStation Vue and Sling TV are only offered within the United States and the antenna will obviously be useless to picking up the U.S-based channels if you are not within the States. There are still options out there to watch the Olympics online and you can learn about them here.

The Team USA Men’s Basketball team is heavily favored moving into the 2016 Rio Games, but as always, anything could happen when the best players in the world take the court. You won’t want to miss a minute of the action!
