If you miss the days of picture in picture, you’re in luck if you’re a PlayStation Vue subscriber. The service announced today that they were rolling out a new “Multi-View” feature that lets users watch up to thee live shows simultaneously.
It’s probably no coincidence this announcement comes right before March Madness, where Vue will be showing live games on several of their networks, including TNT, TBS, and TruTV, plus CBS in certain markets.
Multi-View isn’t just available for sports though, it’s open to all live channels. Is there big news event and you want to watch three windows of coverage? Maybe it’s Oscars night and you want to see three red carpet views all at once? That’s now available with this feature.
PlayStation Vue’s multi-view is available now, but there is one thing you should know: it’s only on the PS4. That is expected to change over time though, as the feature should be rolled out to other platforms soon.
Ready to start using PS Vue Multi-View? You’ll need your PS4 Dualshock Control. Just hold the X button on your PS4 control while streaming any live show, or while on the “Guide” section. A popup window will ask if you want two screen or three screen view, and once you select one, you can choose your other two shows. There will be a larger “main” window that will have sound.
If you want to switch shows while in Vue multi-screen view, press the PS4 control’s square button. To move a show from a smaller window to the main window in PS Vue multi view, just highlight the smaller screen and press square.
PlayStation Vue is also adding updates for live sports, complete with scores and updates about games to watch. Of course, if you’re watching a game or don’t want to see those alerts, there’s always the option to turn this feature off.
