Sling TV, Dish Network’s streaming television service, is now available on smart TVs from LG, meaning the decision to cut cable just got a lot easier for some people.
According to Sling, they’re not the very first live and on demand streaming television service to have an app available on LG Smart TVs. Included in this addition are all of LG’s 2016 webOS 3.0 smart TVs. Support for the 2017 webOS 3.5 models should be coming some time in the next few months.
This means that people who own an LG smart TV can now watch both on demand and live streaming content from Sling without the hassle of switching inputs to a streaming box or streaming stick. Customers now just fire up the Sling TV app from their main dashboard (after downloading it from the LG Content Store of course). Customers can also sign up for new Sling TV service straight from the their LG Smart TV.
Ben Weinberger, Sling TV’s chief product officer, said that even with the “always on the go” lifestyle many people have today, the company realizes “watching TV from the living room is still as important to our customers as ever.” The addition of the Sling TV app on LG smart TVs just gives customers more control over how they watch Sling TV, he said, “so they can view their favorite programs without the need for additional devices or unnecessary input-switching.”
LG Smart TV can no take complete control of their TV viewing, with the basic Sling TV package, Sling Orange, for just $20 a month. The next level up, Sling Blue, is only $25 a month. Extra add-ons including packages for sports, kids, comedy, news, movies, and more are also available.
The following LG television models are now compatible with Sling service:
- OLED G6
- OLED E6
- OLED C6
- OLED B6
