The increasingly inappropriately-named Big Ten is arguably one of the best conferences in college sports. Especially if you’re a fan of one of the 14 teams included. With power houses like Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State and more it can be impossible to imagine life without Big Ten football. Even the rivalries are exciting!
If you’ve considered cutting cable, your love of Big Ten football may be the one thing holding you back. That’s okay, no one wants to miss the action on the field. But you don’t have to. With some creative thinking, you can legally watch Big Ten football online in the comfort of your own home, just like you had cable.
Watch Big Ten Football Online with Sling TV
For most Big Ten Games during the regular season, Sling TV is going to be your best bet. The basic Sling TV package is only $20 per month and gives you access to ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3 (through the WatchESPN app, available with your Sling TV login), as well as 25+ other great channels – all live streaming right through your computer or with a connected device.
What connected devices are those, you ask? Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Android TV, and Xbox One all have apps for Sling TV, as do many more devices. You can also watch right on your computer or with your iOS or Android tables or phones.
In fact, if you sign up now for three months, you can get a free Roku streaming device, or choose to go with a discounted Apple TV. That’s a great deal if you’re in need of a streaming media player. If you’re a T-Mobile subscriber, you can score a discount of 30%, bringing your cost down to just $14 a month for 25+ channels and Big Ten football streaming!
The Big Ten has their broadcast agreements with ESPN so with these networks you should have access to almost every game this year. You can also pay an additional $5 a month for the Sports Extra package and get ESPNU and other stations for college sports news and action.
Sling TV is available without a contract and you can even try it for free for 7 days before making a decision.
Some games will be aired on ABC, which you can access on the WatchESPN app with your Sling TV subscription. Depending on your internet provider, you may be able to access the app for free without a cable or Sling TV subscription. Check the website for more details.

Watch Big Ten Football Live Stream with College Sports Live
CBS has launched their own college sports streaming site, College Sports Live. A subscription starts at $9.95 per month. With this service you can catch some Big Ten games. 9 teams within the conference have agreements with the College Sports Live service: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, and Purdue. You will be able to access live audio or video streams on the CBS service for select games.

Use PlayStation Vue to Watch Big Ten Football Games Online
PlayStation Vue, a new streaming service put out by Sony, will offer another way to watch Big 10 football online this season. Like Sling TV, this service gives you live access to many popular TV networks, without requiring an expensive cable subscription.
PlayStation Vue offers several packages (see our review for details), but their basic package offers ESPN and ESPN2, as well as ESPN3 via the WatchESPN app. Vue also has the Big Ten Network in one of its higher tiers. So, you’ll be able to watch most Big Ten football games with this service. Packages start from $30 a month, and are contract-free.
While we like PlayStation Vue, Sling TV is just a better value overall. Sling is cheaper, works on more devices, offers more generous sign-up deals, and offers the same selection in terms of channels that let you watch Big Ten football online. For now, both are good, but Sling TV is better!
Watch Big Ten Football Live Stream with Antenna and DVR
If you get a good antenna signal, you can use an antenna to get ABC and CBS in HD for free. This will allow you to watch a selection of Big Ten games live as they happen. If you need an antenna, we recommend going over to our best antennas guide.
Looking for a Big Ten football stream on your own schedule? If so, you may want a DVR that connects your antenna to your wireless network. You can record games, and watch them on your own schedule, even skipping ads! Learn more in our DVR comparison guide.
