Cinemax Live Stream: How to Watch Cinemax Online Without Cable

Cinemax has been around since 1980, making it one of the longest running premium cable channels around. Owned by HBO, Cinemax has recently gone through a bit of a reinvention, adding some popular original TV shows to their lineup of blockbuster films. Cinemax is the only place you can watch The Knick, Outcast, Quarry, and other original shows. Until recently, the only way to stream Cinemax was with a cable subscription.

Even worse, your only legal option for watching online used to be MaxGo, the on-demand streaming option for Cinemax subscribers. Luckily, those days are gone, and there are multiple ways to watch Cinemax online. In fact, when you subscribe to these options you’ll receive all of the movies and the full seasons of original content that Cinemax subscribers receive with MaxGo.

So, if you’re afraid of cutting the cord because you’ll miss out on your favorite Cinemax content, you no longer need to worry! There are multiple ways to Stream Cinemax. Just keep reading and we’ll tell you how!

Watch the Cinemax Live Stream on DIRECTV NOW

directv now review

DIRECTV NOW is the best option for cord cutters that are hoping to find a streaming option that reminds them of cable. Despite being offered by DIRECTV, this is a completely streaming option. There are no contracts, and you don’t need a satellite dish! All you need to watch DIRECTV NOW is a subscription (sign up for the free trial) and a computer or streaming device. DIRECTV NOW is adding more devices all the time, but currently you can stream on Amazon Fire TV, mobile devices, Apple TV, and many other devices.

With DIRECTV NOW you can choose from one of three packages that range in price and content. Currently, introductory pricing allows you to receive the Go Big package for just $35 a month instead of the normal $60 price. If you sign up while introductory pricing is available your package won’t go up as long as you remain a member! This package includes AMC, A&E, BET, Food Network, and loads of other channels. You can also add on channels like Cinemax for just $5 a month. While DIRECTV NOW may be one of the more expensive streaming services, it does not come with mobile restrictions, and the price for content like Cinemax is the lowest that you will find!

Make sure to sign up for DIRECTV NOW’s free 7-day trial, and if you’re looking for some new devices, you can prepay for a month to get an Amazon Fire stick or pay for three months to receive a free Apple TV. Everything else you need to know is available in our full review.

Watch Cinemax Without Cable with Sling TV

Sling TV reviews

One of the reasons we commonly recommend Sling TV to cord cutters is because the price is one of the lowest in streaming, but you still receive a good amount of content. Sling TV is split into three base pricing options. You can get the Orange package (25 channels) for $20, the Blue package (40 channels) for $25, and the Orange+Blue package for $40. Some channels that you receive with Sling TV include AMC, BBC America, Disney, Food Network, ESPN, FX, History, Syfy, TBS, and many other channels. Adding on channels is as simple as picking the bundle you want and paying a small monthly fee. In the case of Cinemax, it’s an extra $10 a month.

This will give you access to all the movies available through MaxGo and every Cinemax original show. This includes every episode that has been released! You can watch Sling TV on Roku, Chromecast, Apple devices, Amazon Fire TV, and most other streaming devices.

Make sure to sign up today for your free 7-day trial. From there, keep an eye on special offers from Sling TV, to get things like free streaming devices. Sling often offers free Roku streaming devices or discounts on Apple TV when you prepay for your streaming service. To learn more about Sling TV, check out our review here.

PlayStation Vue Now Offers a Way to Watch Cinemax Online

playstation vue

PlayStation Vue is similar to DIRECTV NOW and Sling TV, in the way that it offers live streaming of some very popular cable channels. With Vue, you can choose from packages starting at $29.99 and going up to $55 a month. These packages include popular channels like AMC, Cartoon Network, CNN, Discovery, Disney, FX, HLN, Sundance, Syfy, TNT, and USA. From there, you can add on channels, like HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, and others. In the case of Cinemax, the cost is $15 a month, making it the most expensive of all three live streaming options. You can watch Vue on PS3 and PS4, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Apple devices, and many other streaming systems.

A 7-day trial will get your membership started. All you need to do is sign up! It’s worth noting that PlayStation Vue (review) is the one streaming service that includes mobile restrictions as part of their package. This means you’re stuck being tied to your home location and it’s the only place you can watch Vue content.

Where Else Can I Watch Cinemax Online?

The places mentioned above; DIRECTV NOW, Sling TV, and PlayStation Vue are the only places that actually offer the full Cinemax experience unless you have cable. The movies available with Cinemax rotate based on a number of factors, so you might find some of those movies on Netflix, Hulu, or on Amazon Prime at any given time. It’s also possible that you’ll find Cinemax Original content through other streaming services. However, these will generally be older seasons, and not new content. As more streaming services come into the market in 2017, it’s completely possible that more services will offer Cinemax in the future.

Watch Older Seasons of Cinemax Originals on Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime Instant Video review

When Amazon Prime was first offered, people picked up the service for the free 2-day shipping option. While that’s still a popular reason to consider the service, the shipping has taken a back seat to the video and music offerings that make Prime such an appealing service.

With Amazon Prime you receive:

  • Over one million songs, playlists, and albums through Amazon Music
  • A free audiobook each month through Audible
  • Thousands of full seasons of TV shows and Original content through Amazon Video
  • Thousands of movies through Prime Video
  • A 30-day free membership to test the service
  • Exclusive lightning sales and member specials

Amazon Prime has everything from older films to current blockbusters. As for TV shows, they offer full seasons of both HBO and Cinemax shows. Currently, there is multiple seasons of Strike Back available as well as a season of Hunted. It’s likely that the newer shows will eventually be added to the lineup, as well.

You can watch Amazon Prime on most major streaming and mobile devices. Pricing options depend on if you want to pay annually or monthly. Annually, the price is $99 a year. If you want to pay monthly you have two options. You can either get the full membership at $10.99 a month or the Prime Video membership for $8.99 a month. While the annual membership is the cheapest option, if you can’t afford $100 at once, the monthly option is still a great deal.

You can learn more about Amazon Prime in our full review. Whatever you do, make sure to sign up for that free trial!
