PlayStation Vue is a live streaming service that gives you plenty of cable channels without the hidden fees and big bills. Like cable, you’ll have access to a DVR, a wide selection of cable channels, and an on-demand library of previously aired shows and movies. One of the biggest questions we receive about PlayStation Vue is whether or not you need to have a PlayStation console or a PS gaming account. The answer is no! In fact, you don’t need to be affiliated in any way with PlayStation to sign up for PlayStation Vue. If you’re new to PS Vue and want to know more about it, you should check out our PS Vue review. If you want to give it a try, there’s a 5-day trial for that!
Another question we get quite a bit pertains to the devices you can use to watch PlayStation Vue. Many people want to know if you can watch PlayStation Vue on Xbox One. If you’re one of the people trying to watch PS Vue on Xbox, this article will tell you whether or not it’s possible to watch PlayStation Vue on Xbox One and other devices that you can use to watch PlayStation Vue beyond Xbox.
PS Vue on Xbox – Can you Watch PlayStation Vue on Xbox One?
No. You cannot watch PlayStation Vue on Xbox One. Now let me tell you why. Even though you can watch PlayStation Vue without a PlayStation, Sony (the owner/creator of PS Vue) and Xbox (created by Microsoft) are competitors. PS Vue was created originally as a way for PlayStation users to have a cable alternative. It has since gone nationwide, but this isn’t something that is going to cross platform. With this in mind, you can’t watch PS Vue on Xbox and it’s highly unlikely that you’d ever be able to.
If you can’t watch PlayStation Vue on Xbox One, where Can you Watch it?
So, Xbox One might be out, but the good news is that there are plenty of other devices that will allow you to watch PlayStation Vue. First, let’s look at the streaming devices, beyond the PS3 and PS4.
- Amazon Fire TV
All of these devices need to be hooked to your TV and will stream on your TV, giving you the look and feel of cable. You can use all of the PlayStation Vue features and functions on these devices. You can also watch all of the channels, though depending on your location, local channels may only be available on-demand.
In your home all of these mobile devices will work fine. Unfortunately, PlayStation Vue does include mobile restrictions so out of the house, you won’t be able to use the PlayStation Vue network to watch any of your recorded shows or live streams. If you’re a big mobile user, you can look to TV Everywhere apps as a way around any restrictions. This won’t give you access to all of the PlayStation Vue channels, but many of them have a corresponding app that you’ll be able to use. TV Everywhere apps will allow you to sign in with your PlayStation Vue account information and watch TV through the app like you would on PlayStation Vue minus any mobile restrictions.
